UK Larp Awards
March 6, 2025 at 4:00 pm
It has been almost exactly a year since I launched my website. In that year I have photographed some significant LARPs, played some significant LARPs and crewed some significant LARPs and can say honestly, that I have had no bad experiences.Recently, a problem with my car meant that I had to ditch a plan to attend Larpcon 2025, a UK based LARP convention. As an extension of this convention there is an event called the "UK LARP Awards." It is, as it sounds, an awards ceremony for LARPs and those who contribute to them in lots of creative ways. I had planned to attend to support 3 games that I helped bring to life, by crewing.
... but I was unaware that I was up for an award myself,
One of my photos of last year was selected as a judges choice award. This means, a bit like the Oscars, it was selected by my fellow peers. I'd like to thank them for their consideration. Although I missed picking up the award in person, for me its more important to have your efforts recognized and more important still to have supportive friends that celebrate your success.
I don't know If I will start using the label "award winning LARP photographer" but if I was ever to do so, it would now be un-ironically.
The photograph was taken at an inaugural LARP event in Scotland. If you like a high-fantasy, low-magic world with boffer-style combat, definitely check out WOME @ know your role dot co dot uk. They've just launched ticket sales for their next event.
Meanwhile, I am also keeping an eye open for other LARPs to photograph and have slots available in June, August and September. I will travel for the right event.
